Over the last week I have been starting to get into the Closed Beta of the MMO RaiderZ from Perfectworld. This MMO is a fantasy world based on pirates and mythical creatures.
During the brief time I have been able to play this game I have found a couple of areas that show positive signs.
For a web-based MMO the graphics are very well done. The models are crisp without any hint of glitching as expected in beta games. The models are well designed with a large area of customisation at the start of the game in your customer creation area. The ability to create your own garments also adds a nice graphical change throughout the game.
Running through the game, the interaction is smooth, there are no obvious issues while you are interacting with NPC and other players.
The ability to pick up weapons within the game adds a nice twist to the game. When attacking creatures sometimes they drop parts of themselves which can be picked up and used as weapons. This adds a nice variety to the game as each weapon performs differently. Through the first chapter one of the best guns was the cannon where you could either use it to run over people or shoot the cannon at them.
One of the bad areas is the fact that the game is not finished. There are areas such as the tutorial that just comes up with general text for it. While this is
understandable as it is still in beta it does take a shine off the experience. This area does not need a lot of work and is mainly text based fixes that are required.
Only limited number of servers available:
With the game being in Beta only 2 servers are available with a large number of people with the closed beta access it does cause delays at peak times trying to load in. This issue will hopefully be resolved when the game enters either open beta or is released.
As this game is only just gone into closed beta there has not been a lot of time available to progress through this game. When the game is released a more detailed review maybe provided.
