SHOOTMANIA STORM STRIKES E3 2012 WITH THUNDER
Ubisoft® announced that ShootMania Storm, the online PC multiplayer first person shooter from Nadeo studio, the creators of TrackMania, will have a strong presence during E3 2012. ShootMania is part of the ManiaPlanet PC gaming system and brings fun, accessibility and endless player creation possibilities to the competitive FPS genre.
Nadeo has partnered with Twitch.TV for a grand ShootMania tournament and the winning teams of this competition will play the final on the Ubisoft E3 2012’s booth on Wednesday 6th of June at 11am PST. They will be joined by pro-gamers Alessandro “Stermy” Avallone, Abdisamad “SpawN” Mohamed, Anya “veNemAA” Savvateeva, John “Swifty” Pyle and Alice “Ali” Lew, to compete in show matches throughout the exhibition. The Twitch.TV ShootMania Marathon is supported by shoutcasters John “TotalBiscuit” Bain and Joe Miller, who will be joined during E3 by Sean “Day[9]” Plott.
Several pro-gamers and pro-gaming teams are already playing ShootMania Storm and have started to train for the tournaments to come. The global feedback from the eSports scene on ShootMania Storm has been positive so far, even if the game is still at an alpha stage.
ShootMania Storm will release on fall 2012 for Windows® PC.

So this seems exciting, I had a great deal of fun playing TrackMania and am now quite looking forward to this, being something of an interesting concept, putting more emphasis on tactics in an FPS environment than normal, and a great deal of emphasis purely on player skill than just who has the better gun. I guess time will tell if these things pan out and this becomes the baseline for FPS genre games.
For those that haven’t seen yet, here we go =D
